Hello everyone, here are the notes from tonight's meeting. We are really excited to share notes with you all. I know we can learn a lot from each other. Thank you for sharing.
Some of the things you said you wanted to START doing:
1. Have kids send "Miss You" cards to inactive kids.
2. Being more organized.
3. Reaching out to those on our rolls that we have never seen, or rarely see.
4. Create monthly newsletter.
5. Communicate goals better.
6. Get to know each child better.
7. Writing at least one note a week to a child to uplift or inspire them.
8. Show love for each child individually.
9. Work more with achievement and scout leaders.
What you want to STOP doing:
1. Being so anxious and second-guessing my abilities and myself.
2. Enabling primary teachers who don't show up to teach on Sunday. Let them know of the importance of their calling as a primary teacher.
3. Having staffing problems (I think this is meant to be more of a challenge).
4. Procrastinating the hard stuff.
5. Not holding others accountable to do their duty.
6. Taking all the responsibility on your shoulders delegate more spread the work.
What you want to CONTINUE doing:
1. Pray for guidance and listen for answers.
2. Recognizing the children when they are reverent and teach them that the spirit is in our primary when we are reverent.
3. To pray and teach with the spirit.
4. Testify after each lesson and let them testify.
5. Acknowledge each child as they arrive make primary a joyful place.6. Continue having Story time.
7. Pray for each child individually.
8. To use personal stories to teach.
9. Continue being a good example.
Some ideas to support the parents in helping the kids achieve their goals are:
1. Create a monthly newsletter, with the month theme, scripture, and hymns.
2. Add FHE ideas to the newsletter that support the monthly theme.
3. Create a beginning of the year packet for each family that includes the CD that will be song in the program, monthly theme and ideas for FHE.
4. Invite parents for a special event where they will learn more about the Faith in God book and how they can support the kids.
Some ideas to make Primary more meaningful for the kids are:
1. Use scriptures often. Let kids see you open and use scriptures.
2. Involve the kids in the planning, ask what they would like to do.
3. Add variety to Primary but at the same time create traditions. Kids like consistency.
4. Understand differences in ages.5. Don't underestimate kids, be prepared and show them you love them.
Well that’s it. Feel free to add ideas by adding your comment on this post and remember you are not alone.
